Some People Are - Anti PE - IMPOSSIBLE??

A recent Times Online (UK) article rattled the heads of PE-lovers everywhere. Take a look at the opinions shared in the article entitle, "Is PE A Waste of Time?"

Not a fun read, but we do need to explore articles like this and have “curious and open” dialogs within our own group and with people whose attitudes lean away from PE. Do we remove children from math, art, music or history class because they don’t have high interest or keen aptitude for those subjects?

Just as educators are constantly exploring ways to better engage all students in reading and math, like engaging all in PE, it is an uphill battle.

Because SCHOOL measures various quantifiers of academic success in the form of funding, standardized tests and time allotted – we need to learn to talk to decision makers in a language they understand. Rather than being us vs them, we can create a dialog that will serve all our objectives.

Phil Lawler and Paul Zientarsky have discovered a way to do this beginning with Zero Hour PE and growing into a new school culture of activity, PE and academic success uniquely integrated. See "Schools Tie in Gym with Learning."

I have tried to do this same thing with Generation FIT. www,generation-fit.com and EXERLEARNING. We can begin to talk the language of the “no need for PE crowd” if we discuss this in a new vocabulary. Please take a look at the EXERLEARNING blog. http://exerlearning.blogspot.com/ I created it for us, for us to share challenges and successes. The word is trademarked for us in exactly this sort of opportunity to reframe the paradigm of what PE can mean to a school, a learning culture and our society.

Take a look at what inspired teens can do via their own non profit called "GET OUTTA MY FACE."
They are developing a kids fit kit for sale to schools for fundraising to eliminate candy, donut, soda and junk food sales while providing the funds schools need
